December's Meeting Agenda

BRING YOUR MODERN QUILTS!!!!!

We will be taking all of tomorrow's meeting looking at our members quilts and deciding which we should show for the trunk show at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center on December 8th, 2013!

Don't be shy, bring in all of your modern quilts, we need A LOT of them to show and we want a wide representation of our members' work. We will be using the following definition:

Modern quilts are primarily functional and inspired by modern design. Modern quilters work in different styles and define modern quilting in different ways, but several characteristics often appear which may help identify a modern quilt. These include, but are not limited to: the use of bold colors and prints, high contrast and graphic areas of solid color, improvisational piecing, minimalism, expansive negative space, and alternate grid work. "Modern traditionalism" or the updating of classic quilt designs is also often seen in modern quilting.

If you can't be at tomorrow's meeting and want to share a quilt at the trunk show, no problem, just send me a picture.

Can't wait to see you all tomorrow!

Pat

More Info on Topics Discussed at September Meeting

Important Note (please pass this info on to other IMQG members who may not have access to the internet) -- The October meeting of the IMQG will NOT be held at Quilters Corner, but will instead be held in the building where the Tompkins County Quilters Guild is having their show  (at the Tompkins Cortland Community College Field House in Dryden, NY) on Sunday Oct 6th. We will gather at 1:00 PM right inside the entrance to the building. The meeting will be short and sweet (no show and tell), so that those members who wish to enjoy the show can go and spend the afternoon there. Members who want to attend our meeting but do not wish to go to the show do not have to pay an entry fee -- the meeting will be held outside of the room where the fee is collected. Click here for directions. There are many signs marking the way, and it is easy to find. If you have never been to a TCQG show before, you are in for a treat. And remember, our "Starry Night" quilt will be on display.
