December's Meeting Agenda
BRING YOUR MODERN QUILTS!!!!!
We will be taking all of tomorrow's meeting looking at our members quilts and deciding which we should show for the trunk show at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center on December 8th, 2013!
Don't be shy, bring in all of your modern quilts, we need A LOT of them to show and we want a wide representation of our members' work. We will be using the following definition:
Modern quilts are primarily functional and inspired by modern design. Modern quilters work in different styles and define modern quilting in different ways, but several characteristics often appear which may help identify a modern quilt. These include, but are not limited to: the use of bold colors and prints, high contrast and graphic areas of solid color, improvisational piecing, minimalism, expansive negative space, and alternate grid work. "Modern traditionalism" or the updating of classic quilt designs is also often seen in modern quilting.
If you can't be at tomorrow's meeting and want to share a quilt at the trunk show, no problem, just send me a picture.
Can't wait to see you all tomorrow!
