Donation Quilts

From the Joann's Store in Ithaca --

My name is Rebecca S. and I am an employee of Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts in Ithaca, NY and was hoping you might pass this message on to your group.

My store is conducting a blanket drive for victims of Hurricane Sandy. We have collected over 70 blankets so far and we are hoping to deliver even more by New Years. We are reaching out to the community to drop off new or made blankets. For those of you who may not have time to make one, we suggest buying a No Sew Fleece Throw and leaving it for our store to make on your behalf.

We have two future delivery dates for our blankets, one shortly before Christmas and another the week of New Years. Any donations need only be dropped off to our store and we will ensure the blankets reach those who need them. If you know of any other groups, school organizations or community out reach groups that we could reach out to, please let me know!

Thank you for your time,
-Rebecca

It's Official

We are "Officially" the Ithaca Modern Quilt Guild, we are linked on the side of the national Modern Quilt Guild website. We now have access to what is going on in the leadership of all of the other MQG's. This is where I will find out about national challenges, events and other happenings. I was disappointed we just missed out on a fabric challenge (Madrona Road Challenge) with fabric given out by the manufacturer, but I will be able to let you know about any thing new that comes our way.

Also, I have listed/linked (see the right side of the page) all of our member's blogs that I am aware of out there. Please let me know if I've missed any and I will happily link it.

Happy Quilting!

Pat

Quilt Exhibit in Elmira

At this past Sunday's meeting, there was some mention of a local exhibit of contemporary quilts --

Here's the info on the exhibit of Jack Walsh's quilt collection at the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira, NY. The museum's website doesn't have too much info, but if you're interested, check it out here. And if you're on Facebook, some of the quilts can be seen on the museum's Facebook page here.

Those who have seen the exhibit say it's full of quilter's eye candy! It's on display through February 8, 2013. Perhaps we could arrange a group meetup there sometime after the New Year!
